Our Apartment - The Photo Tour

The Living Room
These pictures were taken when we first moved in. We now have a couch, a tv, etc.

That is an air conditioner in the corner.

The View from the Living Room

The Kitchen

We have two Kimchi Coolers and a UV Sterilizer

Looks like a cabinet...

but it's a condiment refrigerator!

Our Bedroom

Light Switch with Clock and Hot Water/Heat Control Panel in the Bedroom
(We have to turn on and off the hot water heater as we need hot water.)

The Guest Room
(It has two doors)

Hall Bathroom

Master Bathroom

It has a super high tech toilet.

This shower is really small and not enclosed (Koreans just let the shower drain into drains in the bathroom floor) so, we don't use it. It now has a clothes drying rack in it. Korean dryers take hours to dry anything. So, drying racks are very common.

One of two panic buttons in the apartment. The other one is in the living room.

I'll post more pics another time. There are some interesting things in this apartment that I've never really seen before.

  4. Must agree, for some reason I thought it would be smaller... So I'm guessing you just have an a/c unit and not central air? What is a kimichi cooler and why does kimichi need cooling? What do the buttons on the toilet do? And what happens when you press the red button??? Do nijas fly out of the ceiling? =)Guest room rocks!!! Did you guys have to buy your furniture or was that provided too? Ok, I'm done with my stupid questions... =)

  5. Kimchi is the national dish of Korea. The most popular is a spicy version of pickled baechu (cabbage), but there are also other vegetables sometimes used. They eat it for lunch and dinner with every meal. You either like it or hate it. Jen hates it, I like it.

The fact that there are two kimchi coolers in our apartment shows how serious people take that dish here. The cooler keeps it tasting fresh, though we never use it at home.

  6. Love, love, love your apartment!! So modern and stylish. Do all of the other foreign teachers live in the same building? Or did you guys get the VIP ticket? A UV Sterilizer sounds like a blast, no need to wash the dishes, just put them in the UV sterilizer and you're good to go! Just kidding....but what exactly get sterilized in there?
